Jerry Manter joined KBOI 2News in January of 2008 as a web producer. Born and raised in Boise, Jerry went to Boise High School and attended North Idaho College in Coeur d'Alene. He eventually made his way to Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo. While there, he was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper where it received several state and national awards including Best in State and Best Non-Daily Newspaper in the country by the Society of Professional Journalists in 2004. He was also a weekend reporter for the Joplin Globe newspaper.
After graduating with a degree in communication and a minor in Spanish, Jerry started working as a reporter for the Coeur d'Alene Press. He eventually moved back home to Boise and found his way to KBOI.
Outside of work, Jerry enjoys playing in the mountains including skiing and trail running as well as cheering on the Oakland Raiders. He's run The Race to Robie Creek numerous times, two marathons and just completed his first ultra-marathon (The Rut 50K in Montana, which is described as many as one of the toughest races in America). Jerry is married to his wife Maren and they have a dog Lucia (named after the island St. Lucia).
