      Timberline baseball rides momentum to State 5A title

      The Timberline Wolves won a sixth-straight game Saturday night, beating Coeur D'Alene 6-2 to take the 5A State Championship.

      Cody Price scored three runs, and earned the save for Timberline.

      The Wolves were the only team from District III to win a state baseball title this year.

      Elsewhere:

      Bonneville 5, Skyview 4

      The undefeated Bees broke a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning and held on to win the 4A state championship.

      With the score tied at four, a Skyview runner was thrown out at home in the fifth inning. The play was a turning point for Bonneville.

      Snake River 8, Fruitland 4

      The Grizzlies were denied a third straight state 3A championship, and fifth in six seasons.

      Grangeville 9, Nampa Christian 8

      Grangeville held off a furious late-inning rally from Nampa Christian, which had trailed 9-5 to start the 7th inning.

      The 1A championship game result was not available as of press time.
