That tabu trend is no longer off limits under Boise State's renegotiated agreement with the Mountain, so this Friday's fashion marks the first time the Broncos will bear blue on the Blue in a Mountain West game.
While it's hard to believe the all-blue "camouflage effect" really provides Boise State with an advantage, you've gotta believe Air Force is ready for it; they are a military academy.
As for the Broncos, they're just excited about breaking out the old school blue.
"Yeah, I think it's great. I know that's classic Boise State wearing the blue on blue, on the Blue. So it'll be good, and good for the fans," said senior quarterback Joe Southwick.
"I think it just goes back to being Boise State. I mean, that's what a lot of people know 'em for, blue uniforms and blue jerseys, so it should be fun," said sophomore safety Darian Thompson.
"I think it's cool because we didn't get to wear it last year for our divisional games, and it's an ESPN game, everybody's going to be watching, so that's pretty cool that we'll be wearing all blue, that's what everybody wants to see," added sophomore wide receiver Shane Williams-Rhodes.
Bronco Nation won't buck the blue trend, the Bronco Stadium color scheme for Friday night's game is all-blue. All the color coordination kicks off at 6 pm (MTN) on ESPN.
