GARDEN VALLEY, Idaho -- A woman died Sunday afternoon when her minivan hit a cattle truck head-on near the Smith's Ferry area of Highway 55, state police said.
Police officials said the crash happened at 2:20 p.m. when a northbound Dodge Caravan missed a curve in the road and crossed into the south lane at milepost 93 near Smith's Ferry Drive. The minivan hit a Peterbuilt cattle hauler head-on.
State police said the driver of the Caravan, identified as Kristen Scott, 31 of Meridian, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the cattle hauler, 70-year-old Nampa resident Daniel McCroden, was unhurt in the crash.
The Idaho Transportation Department reported that the highway was opened to one lane at around 4:30 p.m. after being closed off to motorists for nearly two hours.
