Two robberies in 10 minutes: Man on the run after Boise Bench robberies
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) —
A man is on the run after robbing two Boise Bench businesses within about 10 minutes of each other.
Boise Police says a dark skinned man wearing a hoodie went into a convenience store on the 800 block of S. Cole Road at about 8:15 and demanded cash from an employee. He took off running with the money.
About 10 minutes later, officers received a call about a separate burglary in progress at a business near Cole Road and Emerald Street.
The owner of Elements Therapeutic Massage says the man came into her business on Emerald around 8:20 a.m.
He made brief small talk with the lone receptionist, then threw a bag on the counter, pointed a gun at the receptionist's head and demanded money.
He also rummaged through the desk drawer, made the receptionist get under the desk and then ran out there door.
The receptionist then called 911.
"She's doing OK. Scared. Obviously shaken up," said Amy, who owns the business and asked that we just use her first name. "It was unreal, not something you'd imagine happening at 8 o'clock in the morning."
Elements employees say it is the same man as in the surveillance photo taken during the robbery of the unnamed convenience store ten minutes earlier.
And the owner of Elements said it's not the first time he came to her business.
"Saturday night he came in and acted like he was going to get some body work," she said. "He just talked to the girls at the front desk, then just left and didn't stay very long."
The only convenience store on the 800 block of South Cole Road, where police say the first armed robbery happened, is a Jackson's. But neither employees nor Jackson's corporate office would confirm a robbery took place at this location.
Police are investigating the robberies as if they are connected. The suspect in the second robbery, too, was described as being dark skinned and wearing a black hoodie.
