Pooch survives mountain lion attack in Garden City
GARDEN CITY, Idaho (KBOI) - A Garden City dog was attacked by a mountain lion last week, Idaho Fish and Game says.
Officials say the attack occurred in Garden City's Meadowcreek subdivision last Thursday.
Eric Hansen, urban wildlife specialist with USDA Wildlife Services, confirmed the dog's wounds were caused by a mountain lion.
No one was home at the time of the attack.
Officials believe the mountain lion entered the backyard by jumping a six-foot fence. Two other dogs in the yard were uninjured.
A number of mountain lion sightings have been reported during the last few weeks, all of them near the Boise River. Greenbelt users are advised to be aware of their surroundings and keep small children and pets close by when using the greenbelt.
