Police say they responded to the 200 block of East 44th Street just before 5 p.m. after a report of two men having an argument. The report said that one of the men had a machete.
When officers arrived, they say they found a 41-year-old man with cuts on his hand and fingers. He was treated and released by paramedics at the scene.
After interviewing the victim and other witnesses, officers say they went to a nearby home and arrested Anthony Calvillo.
Police say they also charged Hope Barbee, 19, of Meridian because they say she helped hide Calvillo during their search for him. She faces a misdemeanor charge of providing false information to police officers.
Calvillo is being charged with felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is expected to be arraigned in court Tuesday.
Garden City Police say they also found an 18-inch machete.
