Officers shoot, kill mountain lion near Garden City neighborhood
GARDEN CITY, Idaho (KBOI) -- Garden City Police officers killed a mountain lion that's been roaming an area neighborhood for the past few days.
Idaho Fish and Game says an eyewitness spotted the cougar bolt from under his porch in the Riverside subdivision Thursday afternoon. GCPD and Idaho Fish and Game and a volunteer houndsman tracked the mountain lion to an island on the Boise River.
Fish and Game says it was hoping the animal would climb up into a tree where they could tart the cougar, but it ended up attempting to run back into the neighborhood. It was there, where GCPD officers shot and killed the mountain lion.
The cat weighed almost 100 pounds and was seven-feet long.
Officials say the cougar is not the same animal that attacked two dogs last week.
