This weekend, the North Fork Championship II returns to the Class V section of the Payette River, just above Banks.
Qualifiers begin on Thursday at 11 am along the Payette River.
On Friday, an open field of paddlers will compete.
The top finishers then compete in Saturday's slalom course.
By the end, one paddler will stand as king of the North Fork Championship II.
Organizer James Byrd says paddlers come from all over the world to challenge themselves in Idaho's whitewater.
"This amazing race draws some of the best paddlers in the world here," James Byrd said. "We've got paddlers coming from the Czech Republic, Spain, South America, Canada, New Zealand... and all over the United States."
The fun begins this Thursday, June 6th with the "Melt" whitewater film festival at the Egyptian Theatre.
The races have shuttles available to the river's edge.
