And for a Nampa cop, it's cramped quarters for 11 hours in the Ford Sedans they have.
"Our larger officers are having a hard time even getting in or exiting the cars," said Cpl. Steven Uriguen with the Nampa Police Department.
And there's another problem with Nampa's aging police fleet of 36 patrol cars.
"Of those 36, by November 2015, 20 will be at 100,000 miles or greater," said Nampa Police Chief Craig Kingsbury
So the police department is hoping to get six fully outfitted new Ford Explorers at a cost of some $36,000 each.
There's a difference in price between the Ford Sedan and the Explorer of some $1,700 but the more expensive Explorer is roomier for both officer and offender.
I say "hoping to get" because the city council's initial approval is tentative. There will be discussion and public hearings before a final decision in August.
