Nampa man admits stealing rocks from BLM land
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- A Nampa man has pleaded guilty to stealing rocks from federal land.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Monday William Brian Kirkpatrick, 45, pleaded guilty to theft of government property. According to the plea agreement, Kirkpatrick admitted to driving his truck onto BLM land and stealing decorative sandstone rock to sell for use in landscaping projects.
Kirkpatrick admitted that between November 2012 and June 2013, he stole more than 9,800 pounds of sandstone from BLM lands, which retailed for $1,472, and sold the rock commercially.
He faces up to 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 and three years of supervised release.
Kirkpatrick is scheduled to be sentenced on April 21
