Man pleads guilty to misdemeanor in fatal ATV crash
GOODING, Idaho (AP) - An Idaho man has pleaded guilty to vehicular manslaughter for his role in a fatal all-terrain vehicle crash last August near Hagerman.
Twenty-six-year-old Shane Jeffery Haile entered the plea to the misdemeanor Tuesday in a Gooding County District Court. Haile was charged last fall after an investigation into the death of 27-year-old Hailey resident Blanton McGee.
Investigators said Haile and McGee had left a party and taken an ATV that belonged to the party's host without permission.
The Times-News reports the vehicle crashed into a canal and both men suffered injuries, and McGee later died in a Boise hospital.
Haile was initially charged with a felony but that was reduced by prosecutors. He is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 27.
