But wet weather is working against the crews and things need to dry out before they can finish fixing the public road.
Police cited two local men for allegedly setting fire to a Christmas tree they placed on the roadway Saturday night.
Gregory McAtee, 31, and Timothy Cope, 47, were cited under a state law that prohibits anyone from wilfully putting burning debris on a public highway or street.
Each man faces a fine of up to $300 or ten days in jail.
Kuna firefighters put out the fire which burned hot enough to melt the asphalt but the fire department does not intend to charge the two men for the fire engine run.
On the other hand, ACHD plans to seek $1000 from the men to pay for both the damage and road repairs.
That can happen a couple of ways. One, the prosecutor in this case can seek restitution. Or ACHD can sue the individuals separately.
