Crews say it was a controlled burn that got out of control likely from the wind gusts. It burned an acre before crews were able to get it out.
Firefighters said the blaze could have been much worse if it had jumped to large trees nearby, although it did damage some fencing and a wooden trailer sitting nearby.
Crews want to remind people it is getting much drier than normal, and fire danger is getting higher as the season wears on. They say to be careful any time you are using powered lawn tools or conducting controlled burns.
