Giant screen set up in downtown Boise for USA, Belgium match
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI ) -- Soccer fans are invited to watch the United States play Belgium on a giant screen at The Grove plaza later Tuesday (today).
The Gardner Company is setting up an 8-by-18 foot LED screen for spectators, along with chairs at 12:30 p.m. The game starts at 2 p.m. and the watch party is free to the public.
"Like millions of Americans everywhere, Idahoans have cheered on the US Men's National Team during this World Cup like never before," a Gardner company official said.
""We have seen images of crowds of fans spring up in cities coast to coast to watch the games together, riveted by the excitement of each match. We wanted people in Boise to be able to share that experience. So, in conjunction with the Boise Centre, the City of Boise, and other partners, we decided to make it happen."
The watch party follows the City Center Plaza groundbreaking, which happens at 11 a.m. The Gardner Company said there will be music starting at 12:30 p.m. and drinks for purchase. There won't be any food trucks, but the company said restaurants are nearby.
