NAMPA, Idaho (KBOI) - John Bujak has been found not guilty by a jury in his misuse of public funds case re-trial, the former Canyon County prosecutor said on his Facebook page.
Bujak was orginally accused of taking more than $235,000 of tax payer money. His last trial ended with a hung jury in November of last year.
Bujak, who acted as his own attorney, countered during his original trial that money exceeding the amount necessary to pay his county staff to cover Nampa cases belonged to him.
Bujak told the Press-Tribune that he was tired and relieved after the verdict was read in Third District Court at the Canyon County Courthouse in Caldwell.
Although Bujak was found not guilty, he's still facing charges related to the case. Bujak's charges for preparing false evidence and computer fraud will have him back in court in September.
