BPD: Man caught breaking into vehicles at BSU, charged with 23 felonies

Boise Police says officers were called out to Boise State University for a possible vehicle burglary in progress.

A 23-year-old Boise man has been charged with almost two dozen felonies after he was caught breaking into several vehicles, authorities said Monday.

Boise Police says officers were called out to Boise State University for a possible vehicle burglary in progress. Officers say Brett Rodgers, who was being detained by security, had broken into 23 vehicles Saturday night.

“This is a great example of a citizen noticing something strange and reporting it to police,” said Boise Police Lt. Rob Gallas. “Because of that alert citizen, we were able to quickly identify a suspect and recover the stolen property. The Boise Police Department worked together with the Boise State Department of Public Safety and Boise State’s Facilities and Operations Management to arrest the suspect and take additional steps to make sure the victim’s vehicles were safe in the garage.”
