William W. Hanson pleaded guilty to one count of passing counterfeit bills on Monday in U.S. District Court in Boise.
According to his plea agreement, on March 26, Hanson passed a counterfeit $50 note at a restaurant in Cambridge, Idaho.
Hanson admitted to knowing the note was in fact a $5 note, bleached and altered to look like a $50 note.
A subsequent investigation revealed Hanson passed 35 counterfeit $50 notes in Burley, Twin Falls, Boise, Garden City, Nampa, Eden, Horseshoe Bend, Donnelly, McCall, New Meadows, Council, and Cambridge.
Sentencing is set for Aug. 26 before U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge.
