BLM: Evidence, other 'personal items' confirm man-made Hull fire

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- The cause of the 73-acre "Hull fire" has been confirmed to be human-caused, according to the BLM.

Carrie Bilbao, BLM spokeswoman says there was evidence and "other personal items left at the scene," proving the fire was man-made.

"Law enforcement is looking into taking it in for processing for fingerprints to potentially find the suspect responsible," Bilbao said.

Dennis Doan, chief of the Boise Fire Department, says they were able to hold the fire to the Side Winder and Crestline Trails, keeping surrounding structures safe.

"The crews are fighting the fire by hand actually knocking it down," Doan said. "We do have a helicopter going up in the air right now to help us with an air attack."

Bilbao said with light winds and help from helicopter bucket drops and air tanker retardant drops, ground crews were able to knock down active flames. containing the fire by 8 p.m.

The Bureau of Land Management has responded to the fire in the north end near Hulls Gulch.

The Bureau of Land Management and Boise Fire crews also worked together on the blaze.

No evacuations have been ordered. With a storm approaching, the BLM says they will be staying near the fire all night to stop another fire from starting.
