U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson also down-sized on Friday the total number of plants confiscated from two grow operations. Local authorities initially reported seizing an estimated 40,000 plants, but Olson said only 5,585 plants were tallied.
Four of the suspects charged in the case are Mexican nationals, while the fifth is a woman from Caldwell. All are scheduled to appear in U.S. District Court in Boise later this month.
Olson praised the hunter who came across the illegal growing operation for calling in the tip and for avoiding a potential conflict with operators who had firearms in their remote campsite.
