The fire department holds the lead in both the total dollars raised by department and by firefighter.
As of Friday, March 21st, the Boise Fire Department has raised $76,091.53.
Boise firefighter Rich Brown holds the top fundraising position at $19,005.00.
More than 1,500 firefighters participated in the 69-floor stairclimb March 9th at Seattle's Columbia Center tower.
Firefighters wore their 55-pound gear and climbed 788 vertical feet to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Other Treasure Valley fire departments and beyond have participated, including Baker City, Caldwell, Star, Middleton, Eagle, Nampa, Meridian and Mountain Home.
One other local department holds fundraising bragging rights: the Mountain Home Fire Department holds the top position for fundraising per capita... at $3,101.13.
As for the climbing competition, Boise firefighters also fared very well: scoring second overall for the team's time at 40:34.
