It's a trip that's shown to have physical and mental health benefits to those who have served.
And now, the trip sponsors could use your help.
"Hi! I'm Larry, retired Navy, and I was able to go on the first Salmon River float trip put on by the McCall American Legion Post 119 for disabled veterans. That was one of the best trips I've ever been on," said one veteran about the trip in a video produced by Mary Nielson on YouTube.
The McCall American Legion Post 119 is getting ready for their annual trip later this summer.
It's a two-day rafting trip down the "Townie Stretch" of the Main Salmon River.
Volunteers are trying to raise money for the trip and open it to include a primary caretaker or partner of each veteran.
The veteran participants are chosen by folks at the VA Hospital in Boise.
If you can help out, trip organizer Dick Porter would like to hear from you.
