Boise State has hosted the 'choose your seat' since 2009. Seats in the newly expanded north and south end zone bleachers sold in 2012, but mostly as single-game seats said Boise State ticket Manager Anita Guerricabeitia said.
That, combined with approximate 83 percent season ticket-holder retention, means more currently unsold season tickets than this time last year. Guerricabeitia didn't have a specific number, but judging by the number of seats marked available in Bronco Stadium Friday, it's likely more than 1,000.
Season tickets are now available in section 22, previously part of the student section. This year, the Blue Thunder Marching Band will move to a yet-to-be-determined spot in the north end zone bleachers, shifting the student section to the north and opening up ticket sales for the south half of section 22.
Fans at Friday's open house liked the chance to test-sit potential seats. They also noticed the new Bronco football facility - nearly complete on the outside.
"I think it's going to be really exciting, with all the expansions on the stadium and new football facility," said Tamara Cox, once again a season ticket-holder after returning to Boise. "I'm excited to be staying in the same conference," she added.
Cox picked up her season tickets before the event but brought her kids down to hang out on the blue.
Season tickets will be available for sale online beginning Saturday, Guerricabeitia said. A limited number of single-game tickets will go on sale ten days before the September 7 home opener.
Boise State officials said installation of a new video board remained to-be-determined for the 2013 season.
