Local troops get a big good bye
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - A group of 20 soldiers deploying to Afghanistan got a heartfelt good bye Saturday.
Family, friends and fellow troops sent off their loved ones in the 949th Transportation Detachment with a farewell ceremony. Idaho state congresswoman Gayle Batt and several army leaders gave speeches to honor the soldiers as well.
The group leaves Sunday morning for Fort Hood, where they'll train for six weeks. After that they'll go to Afghanistan for nine months. While overseas, they'll work to get supplies from one base to another.
