Caldwell investigating 3 fires in one week
CALDWELL, Idaho (KBOI) - The Caldwell Fire Department was called out Wednesday to a house fire near the intersection of 12th and Elgin street in Caldwell. The blaze burned up most of the house charring the frame and leaving a small patch of the roof not burned.
Caldwell firefighters say they know the area well because they just came from that neighborhood the night before. In the past week Caldwell Fire Department says they had three fires in one week. "In the past six months there's been four or five fires, one residence had several fires set in it," Deputy chief Steve Donahue said. Neighbors say that house caught fire so many times it had to be torn down.
Jacob Honeycutt lives on the block and he says neighbors think they know who it is. "I think it's the work of a kid that's got a little bit of a fire problem, I don't think he wants to hurt anybody," Honeycutt said. Neighbors say the houses were being rebuilt and no one lived in the homes.
Neighbors think if the fires don't stop, someone will eventually get hurt. "It's not going to be too long before something goes wrong and he either damages himself or one of these fires is going to jump to another property that actually does have somebody in it and they're going to get hurt," Honeycutt said.
Caldwell Fire Department said they are still investigating the cause of the fires and haven't determined if it's arson.
